The Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire is a non-profit organization, incorporated in 1904, with the mission to protect, rescue & adopt animals to the public. The ARL receives no Federal, State or United Way funds for support & is solely dependent upon fundraising events & private donations to support its cause.

We are a LIMITED ADMISSIONS shelter. We DO NOT euthanize animals to make room for more. We simply stop taking in new animals until we have room. Each homeless pet will remain in our care until he or she finds a new home.We serve residents throughout New England. In the year 2001, we assisted residents in 64 communities, residing in 8 different states.

Each year, this shelter helps over 2500 animals by providing them a safe haven until loving, adoptive homes can be found for them. We also intervene in cases of animal cruelty.

Greyhound Placement Service (GPS) is a humane organization dedicated to the rescue and placement of retired greyhounds into responsible homes. GPS was incorporated in 1991. GPS is run totally by volunteers.

We neither condone nor oppose the racing industry. Rather, we chose to expend our energy and money caring for and placing as many retired Greyhounds as possible.

How We Operate:

WAG operates without a physical facility or paid staff. Our animals are in WAG approved foster homes until a suitable adoptive home is found. We use a detailed application and interview process in an effort to make the best match between the animal and an adoptive home.

We also have a "Home to Home" adoption process which allows the pet to stay in his current home until a match is made by WAG or the current owner.

All W.A.G. pets are current with shots; spayed or neutered if appropriate and have been thoroughly examined by a vet.

We work with pure breed rescue organizations to find homes for our pure breed friends.

WAG utilizes many forms of media including the web to spread the word and fulfill our mission. W.A.G. is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit corporation.

We are a non-profit animal welfare organization. We make every attempt to reunite strays with their original families. If that is not possible, we try to re-home them with a new loving family.

Greyhound Pets of America (GPA) is a national nonprofit, volunteer-supported organization dedicated to the placement of ex-racing greyhounds in ideal home situations. GPA’s Central New Hampshire Chapter shall be responsible for finding homes for greyhounds that fail to qualify or which no longer qualify for the racetrack, to acquaint the public as to the desirability of greyhounds for pets and to inform the public of the availability of these dogs for adoption. GPA of Central New Hampshire will be working to place greyhounds from the track in Belmont and other tracks in Central New Hampshire. GPA Central New Hampshire volunteers work closely with each prospective greyhound owner, matching them, with a dog whose personality is most ideally suited to its new home situation to ensure a lasting, rewarding relationship.

The mission of the Cocheco Valley Humane Society is to make possible a better world for all animals by providing shelter, educating the community about humane care and treatment, advocating animal welfare, and promoting the human-animal bond. CVHS helps reunite lost pets with their loved ones. Shelter staff works with foster homes, rescue organizations, and trainers to place special- needs animals. CVHS provides cruelty investigations . The shelter holds Rabies and Micro-chipping Clinics in cooperation with local veterinarians.

Volunteers conduct Offsite Adoption Days in local businesses several weekends every month.

The shelter plays an active role in community spay/neuter programs.
